RAB-2 arrests 4 drug dealers with 69 kg of cannabis from Shyamoli area of the capital
On Wednesday, the RAB-2 expedition team came to know on the basis of secret information that a few drug dealers were coming from the border area with a bus carrying a large quantity of cannabis (drugs) to a convenient place around Tangail district. In order to verify the veracity of the information received, the expedition team of RAB-2 set up a check post on the paved road in front of the Taj mansion at Shyamli under Adabar police station at 08.50 am. The accused (a) Mohammad Emdadul Haque (24) and (b) Jamal Uddin (35) tried to flee when a bus on Dhaka-Feni Road arrived at the spot at 09.15 hrs. , (C) Abdul Ali @ Manik (34), (d) Md. Parvez Hossain (29) were arrested. When the arrested accused were questioned about the shipment of banned cannabis, they initially denied it. They said they were going to bring workers from Tangail district by empty bus. He later confessed to possessing illicit drugs (marijuana) hidden in his car. According to their information, 79 (seventy-nine) kg of banned cannabis wrapped in polythene was found hidden inside each seat light of the bus. The arrested accused also said that they had been selling and supplying illicit cannabis to drug dealers and drug addicts in different areas including Dhaka by evading the eyes of the law enforcement agencies of the country for a long time. Such anti-drug campaigns will also continue in the future by sorting out the important information obtained during interrogation of the arrested accused.
