Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam has said that the corona vaccine produced by the Seram Institute of India will arrive in Bangladesh this January.
He was speaking to reporters at the Secretariat on Monday (January 11th), quoting Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister Ahmed Kaikaus.
The cabinet secretary said, “Corona was discussed in the cabinet meeting today. The corona vaccine is coming. The Chief Secretary is co-ordinating it. He had a meeting yesterday. They may announce the decision today. ‘
Asked when the Seram Institute vaccine will come to Bangladesh, Khandaker Anwarul Islam said, “It has been said in today’s meeting that it will be released within this month.” “I hope he leaves by the end of this month,” he said.
Beximco Pharmaceuticals signed an agreement with the Serum Institute on November 5 to receive 30 million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine. Under this, in the first phase, the Serum Institute has promised to give 3 million doses of vaccine every six months at a rate of Rs 5 million per month.
A virtual cabinet meeting was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The Prime Minister from Ganobhaban and Ministers from the Cabinet Division of the Secretariat attended the meeting via video conference.
