A plane carrying 59 passengers has missing in Indonesia. The plane lost contact shortly after take-off from the capital, Jakarta, on Saturday, Reuters reported.
The Boeing 737 was en route to Pontiana in western Kalimantan province, officials said.
According to flight tracking website FlightTrader24.com, the plane descended from an altitude of more than 3,000 meters in one minute.
The plane was carrying 59 passengers, local media reported. Among them are five children and one newborn. Indonesia’s communications ministry said rescue and search operations were under way.
Earlier in 2018, a passenger plane of Lion Air of Indonesia crashed into the sea. 189 people were killed in that incident.
