Former mayor and Awami League central committee member Mohammad Saeed Khokon has claimed that Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh is not eligible to be the mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
He made the remarks at a human chain in front of the Kadam Fountain in the capital’s High Court on Saturday (December 9th) at noon. The human chain was organized to demand compensation and rehabilitation of the traders affected by the eviction drive from Dhaka South City Corporation at Fulbaria Super Market-2.
Saeed Khokon said, ‘Tapas has transferred hundreds of crores of rupees from South City Corporation to its own Madhumati Bank. He has taken crores of rupees as profit by investing this money in various individuals and organizations. On the other hand, due to lack of money, the poor employees of the corporation are not getting salary for months. Various development projects of the city corporation have been stopped due to lack of funds. Through such activities, Tapas has lost his eligibility for the post of mayor. I will tell him, Raghav does not like the story of limestone in Boal’s face. If you want to build a corruption-free administration, first of all, free yourself from corruption. Then look at the limestone. ‘
Claiming that the eviction drive of the city corporation in Fulbaria market was completely illegal, he said, “The court order of the corporation is unanimously approved to revise the design of the markets discussed and allow legal business subject to recovery of arrears of rent.”
The affected businessmen and their family members were present in the human chain.
