The younger brother arranged the snatching drama to embezzle 18 gold bars of the elder brother. Eventually, his younger brother Jiten Dhar (48) was arrested by the police.
Police recovered 18 gold bars from Jiten. The rest sold a win. Jiten’s father’s name is Dwinesh Dhar. His home is in Jamnagar village of Puthia upazila of Rajshahi.
According to the police, the drama of snatching these 16 gold bars was arranged on December 21 in Shiroil area of Rajshahi metropolis. Dwijen Dhar, the owner of the gold bar, filed a case with the Boalia police station in Rajshahi. Then the police started searching. Jiten Dhar was arrested on Friday (December 25).
RMP spokesman Golam Ruhul Quddus told a news conference at the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) headquarters on Saturday (December 25th) that Jiten’s elder brother Dwijen Dhar, 50, lives in Feni. On December 21, he brought 18 gold bars from two jewelers in Feni. Let Jiten keep the bars. Each bar weighs 10 pounds. The total price of 16 times is one crore 12 lakh 81 lakh rupees. Jiten was in debt. He plans to embezzle these bars. For this, instead of a bar, he wrapped three lead rods in scotch tape on paper and put them in a gold bar bag. And he kept the real bars in his house. Later, Dwijen came with his brother Jiten to sell these bars at a jewelers’ shop in Rajshahi. Jiten had already arranged the drama of snatching to take the incident in a different direction. As soon as Jiten and Dwijen reached Shiroil area of the city, four people suddenly came on two motorcycles and introduced themselves as ‘administration man’. Shows the handcuffs they have. They forcibly snatched the bag belonging to Jiten. A wallet and two mobile phones were also seized. Then they left.
Golam Ruhul Quddus said that Jiten had arranged the drama of snatching. According to his plan, two persons named Mizanur Rahman Mizan and Mridul brought a motorcycle from Puthia behind the bus. They kept the other three in town on motorcycles ready to snatch the bags. As soon as Jiten and Dwijen got off the bus, Mizan and Mridul conveyed the information to the waiting people. Then the bag was taken away. But the real gold was in Jiten’s house. From there he won once and sold. Police rescued him from the house 18 times during his arrest.
He told a news conference that Boalia police had uncovered the mystery of the ‘clue-less’ incident with the help of close circuit camera footage analysis and information technology. Only Jiten could be arrested in this incident. Attempts are now being made to arrest his associates.
