Health Minister Zahid Malek has said that if a passenger from the United Kingdom arrives in Bangladesh without a Covid-19 negative certificate, he will have to stay in the mandatory quarantine for 7 days. At the end of 7 days, the passengers will be officially released from the quarantine after the cove test.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of Gene Expert Machine, Mobile PCR Lab and Antigen Test for returning passengers at Ashkona Hajj Camp in the capital on Wednesday (December 23rd).
Earlier, the Health Minister inaugurated the Gene Expert Machine, Mobile PCR Lab and Antigen Test Center at Ashkona Hajj Camp.
It is to be noted that the Covid-19 test has been started through Gene Expert under the direct supervision of the National Tuberculosis Control Program and with the financial support of the Global Fund. In this method the PCR re-agent is given in advance in the cartridge, so the process of nucleic acid extraction, amplification, detection is completed in the cartridge.
Director General of the Department of Health, Prof. Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam was also present at the meeting chaired by the line director Professor. Samiul Islam, Lt. Officers including Colonel Saif.
