Former Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Colonel (Retd) Shawkat Ali passed away at a hospital in the capital on Monday morning. He was 83.
He breathed his last at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) this morning while undergoing treatment.
Earlier on November 5, he was put on life support as his condition deteriorated.
Ali, who was tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19), had been undergoing treatment at the hospital since October 29.
Ali was one of the accused in the Agartala Conspiracy Case filed during the Ayub regime in Pakistan period.
