US President Donald Trump has claimed victory in this election. Although the final results of the November 3 vote have not yet been announced, he declared himself the winner on Wednesday.
Trump said in a speech in the East Room of the White House that he would approach the Supreme Court on the vote count.
“We won the election,” Trump said. Complaining about the vote count, he said it was a hoax with U.S. citizens.
The Democratic Party is fighting a fierce battle with Republicans in the run-up to the election. Votes are still being received in the postal system. “We all want to stop voting,” Trump said.
The state election board said it was legal to accept the votes that would come through the post even after Tuesday. These were sent on time. But Trump has objected to the vote.
